L. Michael Hone

Director and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Hone was elected to the Board in 2002. He joined Caliber I.D. (then Lucid, Inc.) as executive vice president in 2011 and was charged with corporate strategic planning to support the adoption of Caliber I.D.’s technologies into the mainstream continuum of care. In December 2011, he became chief executive officer (CEO). From June 2008 through August 2010, Mr. Hone served as president, CEO, and director of American Aerogel. From 2006 through 2008, he was a consultant for Tempus Partners, a business-consulting firm of which he was the sole owner. From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Hone served as president and chief operating officer of Conseco, Inc. during which time he helped guide this financial services firm through the bankruptcy and restructuring process. He also served as president and CEO of Centennial Technologies, a manufacturer of digital memory that has since been acquired by another entity, and president, CEO, and chairman of PSC, Inc., an Auto ID manufacturer of bar code laser scanning products. Both were public companies traded on Nasdaq. Mr. Hone is a named inventor or co-inventor on seven patents. He also currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees at the Killington Mountain School (Killington, VT).

Karen Howe

Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Howe joined Caliber I.D. as Chief Financial Officer in June 2018. She comes to Caliber with over 14 years of extensive financial experience in high-tech, manufacturing and financial services. Ms. Howe has held senior financial roles in public and privately held companies with significant experience in audit/assessment gained at Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Most recently, Ms. Howe served as the primary financial lead at Soleo Communications, a global leader in innovative, cloud-based local search solutions. In her role at Caliber I.D., Ms. Howe is responsible for leading the finance organization and key supporting functions including tax, internal audit, investor relations, corporate strategy, and business development.

Ms. Howe holds a Master of Science, Accounting, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Robert T. Kelley

Vice President of U.S. Sales

Mr. Kelley was promoted to Vice President of U.S. Sales in March 2014, and oversees the development and execution of strategies that are designed to strengthen recognition and maximize sales of Caliber I.D.’s VivaScope® products and technologies. Since joining the company in November 2011, he has served as Caliber I.D.’s Director of Clinical Sales. Mr. Kelley has nearly two decades of experience in medical sales, with expertise in capital medical equipment and a specialty in diagnostic imaging. Before arriving at Caliber I.D., he was Northeast Regional Territory Sales Manager at XHALE Corporation, where he oversaw sales of their hand hygiene systems and liaised with C-level healthcare personnel at a wide range of institutions. Previous to this he was Northeast Regional Territory Sales Manager at ONI Medical Systems (later acquired by GE Healthcare), where he oversaw sales of MRI systems to a range of healthcare facilities. Earlier, he served as Contrast Media and Delivery System Specialist for Covidien’s Tyco Healthcare and Mallinckrodt divisions. Prior to this, he held sales and marketing positions at Radiology Corporation of America and Medical Resources. Mr. Kelley holds a BS degree in pre-medicine with an emphasis in medical therapeutic science and rehabilitation from Springfield College.

William J. Fox

Vice President, Technology Operations

Chief Technology Officer

As chief technology officer, Mr. Fox is responsible for Caliber I.D.’s engineering, research, and development operations. He joined the company in 1999, serving as engineering manager until his promotion to his current position in 2005. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Fox held product-engineering positions at Mitsui-Pathtek, Burron Medical, and Fisher Price. He currently manages teams that specialize in technologies such as video-rate confocal scanning laser microscopy and design/development of optics and electronic instrumentation. He holds inventor or co-inventor patents in confocal imaging head design and optical examination of tissue, along with instrumentation design and methodology.

Christi Alessi Fox

Vice President of Clinical Development

Ms. Alessi Fox joined the company in 1995 and has worked extensively with confocal experts worldwide on the development and implementation of the technology for both research and clinical practice. She is recognized as an expert in the confocal image interpretation and has co-authored several publications demonstrating the utility of confocal microscopy for dermatologic, neurologic, and surgical tissue applications. Ms. Alessi Fox holds a BS from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an MS from the University of Rochester. She oversees Company-sponsored research studies, regulatory clearances for new clinical devices, and translating devices into clinical practice.

Paul Hemmer

Vice President, Software Development

Mr. Hemmer joined the company in 2004 and brings over 20 years of experience in software development. He served as Software Architect until his promotion to his current position in 2016. In his role, he manages a team of experts in software development and imaging sciences focused on the development and refinement of image capture and analysis modalities, Telepathology and related support services. He is responsible for bridging the gap between the international Sales and Marketing efforts and software engineering efforts.

Prior to joining the company, Mr. Hemmer held positions in product testing and software development at Navistream (now Tenet Partners), Sybase, ElementK (now Skillsoft) and Xerox.

Mr. Hemmer holds a BS from Rochester Institute of Technology. He holds inventor or co-inventor patents in systems and methods for imaging tissue.

Doug Leahy

Vice President of Reimbursement and Health Economics

As Vice President of Reimbursement and Health Economics, Mr. Leahy is responsible to develop, lead and implement successful strategies for coding, coverage, government affairs, health policy and reimbursement of Caliber I.D.’s VivaScope® products. He brings a strong emphasis and focus on physician alignment, education and advocacy to influence medical policies and appropriate payment levels. Mr. Leahy is a medical professional with a diverse skill set including over 15 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse and in revenue integrity as a charge auditor in the hospital inpatient and outpatient settings. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Leahy held positions as the SW Reimbursement Manager at St. Francis Medical Technologies, Inc. throughout the merger with Kyphon (now Medtronic) and as the Reimbursement Manager with The Reimbursement Group. Mr. Leahy holds a BA from Ohio University, a Degree in Nursing from Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences and is a Certified Outpatient Coder, AAPC.
