L. Michael Hone
Director and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Hone was elected to the Board in 2002. He joined Caliber I.D. (then Lucid, Inc.) as executive vice president in 2011 and was charged with corporate strategic planning to support the adoption of Caliber I.D.’s technologies into the mainstream continuum of care. In December 2011, he became chief executive officer (CEO). From June 2008 through August 2010, Mr. Hone served as president, CEO, and director of American Aerogel. From 2006 through 2008, he was a consultant for Tempus Partners, a business-consulting firm of which he was the sole owner. From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Hone served as president and chief operating officer of Conseco, Inc. during which time he helped guide this financial services firm through the bankruptcy and restructuring process. He also served as president and CEO of Centennial Technologies, a manufacturer of digital memory that has since been acquired by another entity, and president, CEO, and chairman of PSC, Inc., an Auto ID manufacturer of digital memory. Both were public companies traded on Nasdaq. Mr. Hone is a named inventor or co-inventor on seven patents. He also currently serves as director for Chairman’s View, Inc. (Boston, MA) and as chairman of the board of trustees at the Killington Mountain School (Killington, VT).
Jay M. Eastman, Ph.D.
Founder, Director Emeritus & Chief Scientist
Dr. Eastman served as a director since the company’s founding in 1991 through February 2012. He served as president and chief executive officer until December 2011 when he became chief science officer. Since 1993, Dr. Eastman has served on the board of Arotech Corp., a public company that manufactures defense and security products, and, since 1994, he has been a member of the board of directors Dimension Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of three-dimensional displays. Dr. Eastman has been a member of the board of Chapman Instruments, Inc., a manufacturer of precision surface metrology instruments, since 2009. From 1986 to 1997, Dr. Eastman was an executive vice president and senior vice president of strategic planning for PSC, Inc., a public barcode laser scanner manufacturer. Dr. Eastman served on PSC’s board of directors from April 1996 through November 2002. He holds, as inventor or co-inventor, 44 patents. Dr. Eastman has been a fellow of the Optical Society of America, or OSA, and the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers, or SPIE, as well as an honorary member of the Rochester Engineering Society.
Richard J. Pulsifer
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Pulsifer became chief financial officer in July 2012 after joining the company in June 2012. Previously he was chief financial officer of American Aerogel Corporation, a manufacturer of materials used in temperature-‐sensitive shipping for pharmaceutical and biotech customers, from December 2009 to June 2012. From 2007 to 2009, Mr. Pulsifer was chief financial officer at HighRes Biosolutions, Inc, a manufacturer of robotic systems and laboratory devices used by pharmaceutical, biotech and academic research laboratories. He was chief financial officer at BioSense Corporation a start-‐up manufacturer of medical device equipment. Mr. Pulsifer served as vice president at Conseco, Inc. a large NYSE insurance company during its restructuring process. Mr. Pulsifer also served as chief financial officer of Centennial Technologies, Inc. a publicly held manufacturer of digital memory and Praxis International a manufacturer of data replication software through their acquisitions. Mr. Pulsifer started his career as an auditor and worked for Coopers & Lybrand.
Robert P. Fischmann
Vice President of Operations
Mr. Fischmann joined Caliber I.D. in November of 2013 as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Fischmann is a seasoned executive with more than three decades of experience in management and operations roles within technically oriented product companies. At Caliber I.D., Mr. Fischmann’s responsibilities include managing all of the Company’s production control, production process development, quality systems, purchasing, shipping/ receiving, customer support and FDA compliance activities. He also interfaces with CEO Michael Hone on manufacturing plans and future innovations, and consults on product design for manufacturability. Between 1981 and 2011, Mr. Fischmann held positions of increasing responsibility at Eastman Kodak Company. Most recently, he served as Director-Worldwide Operations and Customer Service & Vice President, Prepress Solutions. In this role he was responsible for all manufacturing operations, customer service engineering, and field technical assistance within Eastman Kodak’s $1.6B Prepress Solutions business. He holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Union College, an MS degree in manufacturing and engineering management from Clarkson University and an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Robert T. Kelley
Vice President of U.S. Sales
Mr. Kelley was promoted to Vice President of U.S. Sales in March 2014, and oversees the development and execution of strategies that are designed to strengthen recognition and maximize sales of Caliber I.D.’s VivaScope® products and technologies. Since joining the company in November 2011, he has served as Caliber I.D.’s Director of Clinical Sales. Mr. Kelley has nearly two decades of experience in medical sales, with expertise in capital medical equipment and a specialty in diagnostic imaging. Before arriving at Caliber I.D., he was Northeast Regional Territory Sales Manager at XHALE Corporation, where he oversaw sales of their hand hygiene systems and liaised with C-level healthcare personnel at a wide range of institutions. Previous to this he was Northeast Regional Territory Sales Manager at ONI Medical Systems (later acquired by GE Healthcare), where he oversaw sales of MRI systems to a range of healthcare facilities. Earlier, he served as Contrast Media and Delivery System Specialist for Covidien’s Tyco Healthcare and Mallinckrodt divisions. Prior to this, he held sales and marketing positions at Radiology Corporation of America and Medical Resources. Mr. Kelley holds a BS degree in pre-medicine with an emphasis in medical therapeutic science and rehabilitation from Springfield College.
Joseph R. Williams
Vice President of Global Marketing
Mr. Williams joined Caliber I.D. in March 2014 as Vice President of Global Marketing, a newly created position, and is responsible for all strategic and tactical marketing activities to expand our global VivaScope® business. Mr. Williams has more than three decades of experience in healthcare marketing and business development. Before arriving at Caliber I.D., Mr. Williams was Director of Market Development at Axsun Technologies/Volcano Corporation, where he led the creation and execution of strategies focused on the development and application of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and other imaging technologies. Prior to this, he was Senior Director of Global Marketing-Neurosurgery Division at Integra Life Sciences, where he was responsible for all marketing and strategic planning activities. Earlier, he served as Director of Global Marketing-Visualization Products Division at Smith & Nephew Endoscopy, where he oversaw global strategic sales, marketing, operations and R&D. Prior to this, he held positions at Olympus America, Inc. and Pentax Precision Instruments Corp. He holds an MBA degree in business management from the University of Rochester, an MS degree in medical biology from Long Island University and a BS degree in biology from St. John’s University.
William J. Fox
Vice President, Technology Operations
Chief Technology Officer
As chief technology officer, Mr. Fox is responsible for Caliber I.D.’s engineering, research, and development operations. He joined the company in 1999, serving as engineering manager until his promotion to his current position in 2005. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Fox held product-engineering positions at Mitsui-Pathtek, Burron Medical, and Fisher Price. He currently manages teams that specialize in technologies such as video-rate confocal scanning laser microscopy and design/development of optics and electronic instrumentation. He holds inventor or co-inventor patents in confocal imaging head design and optical examination of tissue, along with instrumentation design and methodology.
Christi Alessi Fox
Director, Clinical Activities
Ms. Alessi Fox joined the company in 1995 and has worked extensively with confocal experts worldwide on the development and implementation of the technology for both research and clinical practice. She is recognized as an expert in the confocal image interpretation and has co-authored several publications demonstrating the utility of confocal microscopy for dermatologic, neurologic, and surgical tissue applications. Ms. Alessi Fox holds a BS from the Rochester Institute of Technology and is a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP). She is responsible for the implementation of the VivaScope and telepathology technologies into the workflow of clinical practices as well as the coordination of research studies.
Karen A. Long
Ms. Long joined the company as controller in June 2010 and is primarily responsible for all accounting functions, including ensuring compliance with financial and SEC reporting requirements. Prior to joining Caliber I.D., Ms. Long served as the accounting manager for Harbinger Group, Inc. (formerly Zapata Corporation) a publicly traded financial holding company, a position she held since 2000. Prior to that, she served as a senior accountant at Arthur Andersen LLP. Ms. Long is a Certified Public Accountant, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and serves on the finance committee of a local nonprofit organization.
